About the Distillery

Springbank is the last distillery in Scotland to carry out the full production process on a single site — from malting the barley to bottling the spirit. Nestled on Longrow in the heart of Campbeltown, it produces three distinct characters under one roof: the lightly peated Springbank, the unpeated Hazelburn, and the heavily peated Longrow.

For independent bottlers, Springbank casks are among the most sought-after in Scotland. The distillery’s commitment to traditional methods — partial floor malting, direct-fired stills, minimal chill filtration — produces a spirit of uncommon depth and individuality. Every cask tells its own story.

The Terroir

Three characteristics that define Springbank’s spirit

I

The Water

Drawn from Crosshill Loch, the water filters through ancient sandstone before reaching the distillery. Soft and mineral-rich, it imparts a clean, delicate sweetness that underpins every Springbank expression.

II

The Peat

Campbeltown peat is distinct from Islay — lighter, more herbal, with a coastal salinity. Springbank uses it sparingly, creating a spectrum from Hazelburn’s zero peat to Longrow’s deeply smoky character.

III

The Climate

The Kintyre peninsula is battered by Atlantic weather year-round. Salt-laden air permeates the warehouses, and the cool, humid conditions slow maturation — producing whiskies of remarkable depth and coastal character.
